Kalbi were good. Tteokboki was good too. The bibimbap could have done better. Menu has similar prices. Affordable korean food. Offers parking.
We ordered the boneless BBQ meat ($13.99) and the meat came very chewy and dry. When we asked the owner about the quality of the food if it was really supposed to be that way, he argued that was the real Korean style. He offered to try one bite from our dish (which we agreed) and kept chewing for a good one minute, while was explaining that there was nothing wrong. When we confronted him that the fact he was still chewing for one minute, he said he was enjoying to texture and the chew was for the enjoyment of the dish. Zero customer service and poor food quality. In the end, he didn't offer any apology or discount. He insisted that the meat/dish was supposed to be chewy.
Good Korean food. Simple set-up but tasty food.
A staple dining location when I am in the north end. The bulgogi beef has a traditional preparation and isn't too sweet. The kimchi is delicious and everything tastes to be authentic... But I am not Korean so I can't confirm that statement. But always tasty. Worth a visit!
Kimabaek is hands down one of the best Korean Restaurant's out here in Winnipeg! Their food is made to order and comes out piping hot. I don't just mean hot. I mean literally boiling hot! You can also tell them the spice level of the dishes. So if you want more/less than normal then just let them know and they are more than happy to accommodate. Great food that comes out super hot, good seating area and ok service. I recommend the Beef Hot Pot which has the amazing yam glass noodles and delicious beef in it.
